Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about the Program, and what we get asked most often.

About the program

Why do I accumulate Points when charging my electric vehicle?
Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations recognize the contribution of certain lower-carbon energy sources, including electricity used to charge electric vehicles. Roulez Électrique aggregates and validates eligible charging data, then shares part of the generated value with participants.
Is this a government program?
Roulez Électrique operates within the framework of Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations, but the program is not directly operated by the Government of Canada. It is administered by Roulez Électrique Inc.
Why are some charger integrations in beta?

Some charger integrations are offered in beta while we validate their reliability. During this phase:

  • The integration may change without notice.
  • Some Charging Data might not be recognized or validated.
  • Points calculated from that data may be subject to adjustments.
  • Recognition or monetization of the associated Carbon Credits is not guaranteed.

Roulez Électrique may, at any time, limit, adjust or suspend a beta integration.

Can I participate in several similar programs?
You must not enroll the same sessions, the same charger, or the same environmental attributes in several incompatible programs. Double enrollment may result in the loss of rewards or the recovery of amounts already paid.
Can I enroll the same charger in more than one rewards program?

No. Federal compliance and audit rules check for data overlap between programs. If a charger's serial number is claimed in two or more aggregator programs during the same calendar year, it triggers a duplicate-data violation, with two consequences:

  • Immediate disqualification — the overlapping data is invalidated and the charger becomes ineligible for rewards under any program for that entire year.
  • Possible permanent ban — to protect the integrity of the regulatory framework, the charger's serial number may be permanently barred from every reward platform operating under the CFR ecosystem, nationwide.

In short: one charger, one program, per calendar year.

You must not use the same charger, the same sessions or the same Charging Data in more than one incompatible program for the same period. Such a situation could constitute Double Counting and result in the exclusion of the data, the cancellation of Points, or the end of your participation.

How do I switch to another program without losing my rewards?

Plan the switch around the calendar year so your charging data never overlaps. Before switching:

  • Complete your opt-out from your current program before December 31.
  • Make sure your enrollment in the new program starts on or after January 1 of the following year.

This guarantees zero data overlap for any single year and keeps your charger fully eligible. Switching mid-year — so the same year's data is claimed by two programs — is exactly what triggers a violation.

I'm retiring my charger to enroll it in another rewards program: what should I know?

You are not allowed to enroll the same charger in more than one rewards program during the same calendar year. Make sure you have fully withdrawn from any other program before enrolling this charger elsewhere, or you risk disqualification.

See "How do I switch to another program without losing my rewards?" for the recommended sequence. Retiring your charger from the Roulez Électrique Club cuts its remote control, but keeps your charging history, your reports and every credit already earned: none of that is erased.

Eligibility

Which electric vehicles are eligible?

All EVs and PHEVs charging at home, regardless of make (Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Chevrolet, etc.). The program does not validate the vehicle itself — what matters is the charging station and the session.

Which home chargers are compatible?

Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3), Tesla Universal Wall Connector, Wallbox (Pulsar Plus), Sigenergy (AC and DC), and FractalEV. The station must be connected to the Internet to transmit session data. Other models can be integrated on request — email [email protected].

Why do I have to buy certain chargers from Roulez Électrique to participate?

The requirement to purchase certain chargers from Roulez Électrique comes from agreements entered into with their manufacturers. These manufacturers impose this condition in order to authorize their chargers' participation in the Program and the transfer of the necessary data.

This requirement does not apply to every eligible charger: see "Which home chargers are compatible?" to find out which brands are affected.

Are all my kWh eligible?
No. Rewards apply only to eligible kWh based on received data, charger compatibility, account configuration, validation requirements, absence of double enrollment, and applicable program rules.

Points & conversions

How many Points can I accumulate per kWh?
The amount per kWh delivered to your vehicle depends on your province and charger brand: see the Rates & estimate section for the current, real-time rate. The exact rate varies from one province to another, and also depends on the station model and your participation history. The calculation is applied automatically to every session — visible in real time in your dashboard.
Is the conversion of my Points guaranteed?

No. Points are a conditional unit of account. Their conversion depends notably on the eligibility and validation of Charging Data, the recognition and monetization of Carbon Credits, the actual receipt of funds by Roulez Électrique, and compliance with the Program's conditions.

When do my Points become eligible for conversion?

Payments are annual and made by bank transfer before September of the following year — for example, between June and September 2027 for credits accumulated in 2026. Credits are retroactive to January 1st of the registration year (e.g., January 1st, 2026 for a 2026 membership), so you don't lose out on the months before your registration for certain API-eligible charging stations.  It is NOT retroactive for charging stations using the OCPP protocol. Your rewards are continuously visible in your dashboard, under the Rewards section. No paper checks. We are also considering offering the reward in the form of a gift certificate from merchants such as WalMart, Amazon, etc.  All details will be available at least 30 days before reward payments during the 3rd quarter of 2027.

The payout process works as follows: after December 31, we analyse the data accumulated during the financial year. We then carry out an identity verification for each participant, after which your payment information is displayed in your account. The payout is made once Roulez Électrique has received the program funds.

When can I expect a conversion of my Points?
Points accumulate in your dashboard. Their conversion is processed once a year, after validation of eligible Charging Data and Program processing.
What are the tax implications?

Rewards may be considered taxable income depending on your situation. You will receive the necessary documents at year-end. Consult your accountant for your personal case.

Stations & connectivity

What happens if my station loses Internet connectivity?
Sessions recorded offline are caught up when the station reconnects (subject to the manufacturer's capabilities). If the outage is prolonged, untransmitted sessions cannot be counted — hence the importance of a stable connection.
Are my charging sessions from before I signed up counted?

Some Eligible Chargers allow charging sessions performed since January 1st of the current year to be recovered. Other connection methods only transmit Charging Data starting from their activation in the Program.

A charger connected using the OCPP protocol only transmits its Charging Data to the Program from the moment it is configured with the OCPP server designated by Roulez Électrique. Sessions performed before that configuration cannot be recovered or counted retroactively.

How long before a charging session appears?
The delay depends on the charger manufacturer. With Tesla, for example, a charging session can take 24 to 48 hours after it ends before it appears. Our system automatically checks for new data every day. You can also force a sync: go to My chargers, open the charger and click "Sync now".

Privacy & data

What data is collected and who has access?
Only the technical data needed for the calculation: kWh delivered, session duration, timestamps, and your station ID. No GPS data, no driving habits. Only you and Roulez Électrique Inc. have access. Never sold to third parties.
Why do I need to authorize the use of my charging data?
This data is required to measure eligible kWh, verify eligibility, prevent double counting, produce the required reports, and calculate your rewards.

Participation & account

Are there any membership fees?
No. Enrollment and participation are free. No membership fee is deducted from your displayed rewards.
How do I withdraw or change my station?
You can change your station at any time from your profile. Enrollment in the program requires a one-year minimum commitment from the date of sign-up, to ensure the consistency of annual payouts. After that first year, you can withdraw at any time. Your historical data is kept for the period required by law (notably for tax purposes).

Mentorship program

Support Program – Become an Ambassador

We are currently in beta phase. To ensure the stability and quality of the platform, we are progressively controlling the growth of the Roulez Électrique Club.

The Ambassador Status allows inviting new eligible members to the Accompaniment Program. It is not a registration code, but rather an authorization granted to certain members so that they can sponsor other users.

To become an Ambassador, you must meet one of the following two criteria:

1) You purchased your charging station from Roulez Électrique

You are automatically eligible for the Ambassador status. However, proof of purchase may be requested.

We currently have Wallbox stations in stock starting from $849, eligible for the $600 subsidy from the Government of Quebec.

Each station also includes:

  • - a charge card providing access to various public networks, including the Circuit Électrique and Avenue Électrique;
  • - a charge credit of $100.

More information:

https://boutique.roulezelectrique.com/collections/wallbox

OR

2) You are already using an eligible station

You must have achieved over 2,500 kWh of charge since January 1, 2026 and maintain an annual average of at least 5,000 kWh.

The currently eligible stations are:

  • - Sigenergy
  • - FractalEV
  • - Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3
  • - Wallbox

How to activate your Ambassador status?

If you meet one of these criteria, open the “Feedback” tab in the app and send us a request indicating the criterion you meet.

After validation, we will activate the “Invitations” feature in your account, which will officially grant you the Ambassador status and allow you to invite new members to the Accompaniment Program.

Important: Ambassador status is not required to participate in the Accompaniment Program. It is only necessary to sponsor and invite new members.

What is an Ambassador?

An Ambassador is an experienced member of the Roulez Électrique community who guides, advises or invites a new person to discover the benefits of electric mobility. The Ambassador shares their experience and practical tips, and can help the Invitee better understand the world of electric vehicles.

What is an Invitee?

An Invitee is someone discovering electric mobility, or who joins the community through an Ambassador's invitation. The Invitee can draw on the Ambassador's experience to ask questions, get advice and better understand the steps involved in buying, using or charging an electric vehicle.

How does the Ambassador program work?

The Ambassador program lets a community member invite a new person to join Roulez Électrique. The Ambassador shares their Invitation code or Invitation link with the Invitee. When the Invitee signs up or takes part in the program, the link between the Ambassador and the Invitee is created automatically or validated in the app.

Are ambassadors rewarded?

Yes. As an ambassador you earn a bonus on your invitees' eligible charging, on top of your own accumulated value. The reference rate is 1 Point ($0.01) per kWh.

That bonus is covered by Roulez Électrique and takes nothing away from your invitees' accumulated value: they receive exactly the same amount as if they had signed up without an ambassador.

The actual rate depends on your ambassador level and on your invitee's charger brand: it can be higher, and some brands generate no ambassador bonus at all. Your bonus is visible at all times in your dashboard, under "Ambassador bonus".

What is an Invitation code?

The Invitation code is a unique code an Ambassador can share with a person they wish to guide. This code identifies the Ambassador when the Invitee signs up or takes part in the Ambassador program.

Can I change my ambassador?

No. Once your charger is connected to the network and has started accumulating Points, the link with your ambassador is final.

The only exception we can review concerns an account whose charger was never associated, or that has never recorded a single charging session — not even one watt. In that case only, write to [email protected] before your first charge.

Note: the choice of ambassador is locked in when your account is created. Until you have an account, the last invitation link used is the one that counts.

Is the Ambassador responsible for the Invitee?

No. The Ambassador is not responsible for the Invitee's decisions, purchases or actions. Their role is simply to guide, advise and share their experience with kindness.

Is the invitation program (Ambassador) a pyramid scheme (MLM)?

No. The program has only one level: an ambassador earns a bonus only on the charging of people they personally invited directly. There is no bonus on your invitees' own invitees, and no multi-tier referral chain — one of the defining traits of a pyramid scheme.

This bonus is calculated in proportion to the kWh actually charged by the invitee on their own charger, never based on the number of people recruited: inviting many people who never charge earns nothing.

This bonus is covered by Roulez Électrique and takes nothing away from your invitees' accumulated value: they receive exactly the same amount as if they had signed up without an ambassador.

There is no fee to participate — enrollment and participation in the Program are free, the Program is not a paid subscription and does not require you to purchase a product or service. You can also take full part in the Program without ever inviting anyone: it is not a requirement and it changes nothing about your own rewards.

Why use the words Ambassador and Invitee?

These words reflect the spirit of knowledge-sharing, mutual help and guidance of the Roulez Électrique community. The Ambassador shares their experience, while the Invitee learns, discovers and progresses in the world of electric mobility.

Can I become an Ambassador?

Yes. Under the program rules, a member can become an Ambassador once they have enough experience with electric mobility or when they actively take part in the Roulez Électrique community.

Can an Ambassador have several Invitees?

Yes. An Ambassador can guide or invite several Invitees, according to the rules set by the Ambassador program.

Chargers

Why can't I see my charging session?

Most charging stations only record a charging session once it has ended, which is typically when the charging connector is unplugged from the vehicle.

It is therefore normal for an active charging session not to appear in your history or for the energy (kWh) not to be counted until the session is complete.

In addition, Club Roulez Électrique synchronizes charging data at regular intervals, depending on each manufacturer's capabilities. As a result, it may take up to one hour after the charging session has ended before it appears in your charging history.

General

Can I change ambassador?

Yes, but only if no charging data has yet been recorded for your account or your charging station.

Once charging data is associated with your account, changing ambassadors is usually no longer allowed.

Can I delete my account or my station to choose another ambassador?

No.

Deleting an account or a terminal does not allow bypassing program rules. The email address as well as the terminal's serial number may remain associated with our systems.

A $100 fee may be required to reactivate a deleted account and/or terminal in this context.

Can I declare my charging station as sold and create a new account?

No, if the objective is simply to bypass the rules related to changing ambassadors.

Our systems can detect certain inconsistencies, for example:

  • same address;
  • same station serial number;
  • new account or new declared owner;
  • existing charging history.

When an attempt to bypass is detected, the account may be suspended or deleted.

I already have recharge data. Can I still change my ambassador?

In rare cases, yes.

A change can be allowed when there is a common agreement between all parties concerned and after validation by our team.

This modification requires manual intervention and an administrative fee of $250 is applicable.

The credits already accumulated by the previous ambassador remain acquired and are retained. The new ambassador begins to accumulate credits only from the moment the change becomes effective.
